The labels in the “Monet to Picasso” exhibition are well printed and fairly good to read, unfortunately the wonderful works in the graphic arts department were not accessible for me at all – I had to take pictures of the labels and read them on my phone with my zoom on.

In other galleries the labels differ a lot from exhibition to exhibition, the labels at the staterooms are big and the numbers for the audio guide good to read, the text itself was not legible for me.

  • Art labels: the labels are mostly white on white walls with a rather small font, hard to find and hard to read. The symbol for the audio guide is very small 

  • Signs: many are black on white with a good contrast and size, but they are still too small to read for me

  • Light: mostly, very good, depending on the exhibition 

  • Stairs and elevators: stairs: with good handrails, elevators with good buttons

  • Doors: in the galleries mostly glass doors, very hard to see. Watch out for them!

  • Shop: left of the entrance, always worthwhile a visit

  • Café: Studio Café, 8th floor – very nice, beautiful outdoor space 

  • Restaurant: called “Untitled”, lobby level, to the right of the entrance

  • Before you actually visit the museum go to the Whitney website to check out current exhibitions, hours and schedule changes.

  • Make sure you allow enough time to explore this spacious museum.
